We are looking for 1 PhD student for the problem area: Scalable search and analysis of streaming data. The main goal of this project is to develop general software systems for efficient and scalable processing of data from different kinds of high volume data streams produced by, e.g., industrial or scientific equipment. It is intended to develop such software systems based on a Data Stream Management Systems (DSMSs). The project is expected to produce novel methods and software for scalable capturing, searching and analysing high volume data streams. During the processing various methods are applied (e.g. statistical) to identify when certain properties appear in streaming data.
A successful candidate should have a master of science in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent. Furthermore, it is desirable if the applicant has knowledge in techniques for scalable loading, indexing, and searching large database, both relational databases and NoSQL databases. Good skills in oral and written English are required.
The PhD positions are for a maximum of five years and include departmental duties at a level of at most 20% (typically teaching).
