Fully funded PhD student positions at the University of Zurich

The Dynamic and Distributed Information Systems Group is looking for multiple

Research Doctoral Students

with a keen interest in at least one the the following areas:

  1. Large-scale Graph Processing
  2. Human Computation / HCI
  3. Semantic Web / Linked Data
  4. Economics of Computing
  5. Social Network Analysis

to work on a number of new and existing research projects (including ViSTA-TV, CrowdLang,
Signal/Collect).

You will be collaborating in a larger research team consisting of the Dynamic and Distributed Information Systems Group (DDIS) headed by Prof. Abraham Bernstein, which is part of the Department of Informatics of the University of Zurich . The group is active in International and Swiss National research projects and we are looking for candidates to help us continue these efforts.

You have:

  1. a master’s degree in informatics, computer science, information systems (or an equivalent university study);
  2. expertise in database systems, Semantic Web / Linked Data, HCI, social network analysis, or economics (note: only expertise in one of the fields is necessary; multiple areas is desirable);
  3. good programming skills in several languages;
  4. an interest in applying computer science research to real-world problems;
  5. excellent command of English;
  6. German is a plus but not required.
